For all the people who don’t know already, Jumbo is the nick name of Anil Kumble (currently Indian Cricket Test Captain) who recently bagged his 600th Test Victim.
I am a day late with the post, as technically it was yesterday that Kumble got his 600th. (On the second day of the third test between India and Australia at Perth) Kumble is now only behind Mutthiah Muralitharan (723) and Shane Warne (708 and retired). Both legends of their own when it comes to spin bowling. He is also the leading Indian wicket taker in both forms of the game. (ODI’s too)
One of his other achievements is having taken all ten test wickets in an innings. (This was against Pakistan in Kotla – Delhi) Only one other player has achieved that feat in the history of International cricket. This inspite of not being the greatest turners of the ball.
Kumble’s 600th test victim is Andrew Symonds.(Caught Dravid)
Michael Vaughan was his 900th International wicket.
Steve Harmison was his 500th Test victim. (LBW, under Dravid’s captaincy.)
Simon Katich was his 400th Test victim. (Bowled, in Bngalore)
His 28 caught and bowled is the highest by anyone.
