Doctor No ??

So I was having my exams and as always, I switched on the TV while I was having my food to browse through channels to find out whats going on in the world around me. (Normally I am oblivious to the happenings around me. I sleep a lot and when I wake up, things have changed!! I hate that.) So I am flipping through channels, click click….click, and I heard a voice I have come to know as the falsely heightened voice of none other than the famous Arnab Goswami. A false sense of excitement in his voice to woo viewers.

Red Cross

Whats the issue about ? Some Medical college students striking for some reason…. (Hey I was flipping through channels. So don’t blame me if I don’t know what exactly was going on.) Excerpts from the interview:

MSR:We dont think this is right……(About the doctors being forced to do one yer compulsory rural service.)

A  G:  Mr. MSR You are saying that you are against this one year rural service. If the Government decides to give you a job in AIMS instead of the rural job with twenty thousand rupees a month, guaranteed, then would you still strike ?

MSK: ???? (Doesn’t know what to say.)

All I want to ask Arnab is How many years of rural reporting have you done ?.  How many villages have you been to in India addressing the issues of the people. All you fagots care about is masala news. Who kissed who in Bollywood and what its implications are on the country!! If the Government was to say that no journalist can become a TV reporter without five years in rural reporting, would you agree to it ? Jackass!! If every television channel was told, that they have to have one reporter in every village, in order to be invited to press conferences, would you agree to that as Editor-in-Brief TIMES NOW ? Do you know how difficult it is to do a medical course you dumb ass? Why didn’t you try ? All you wanted to talk of was which celebrity got a boob job on TV didn’t you ? These guys sweat it out for 5 years and they have every right to earn more than you do. So buzz off and seriously, get a job man!! You clearly suck at this.

Mujhse Shadi Karoge, Dr Ramadoss!

Whats the issue ? “One year’s  compulsory rural service based on the recommendation of the Planning Commission, who recommended public service mandatory for all graduates from government medical colleges. ” You crazy old freaks. You take our fees and run colleges. You bloody swindle money in the process. Capitation fees, dues. Bloody hell, you buy contraceptives with our fees. And you say we have to compulsorily serve in rural areas ?? Guys on the planning commission, seriously, you too buzz off!!

Why isn’t the same imposed on IIT and IIM graduates ? How many IIT guys go into research anyway ? Why don’t you introduce a clause saying every IIT graduate will have to do R&D for an year in Govt. centres or better still work in rural areas to sort out problems there. I am sure they will accept your proposal.  Evereyone wants to make a quick buck in today’s world. Thats all. Why should doctors alone be punished ?

  1. Dude, it wasn’t an analogy. And yes these guys need to work in rural areas too!! You know if these reporters work in rural areas, they get Magasasay award and doctors are made to compulsorily work. how’s that fair ?

  2. Arnab, that guy is nothing but a load of poo and a bag of hot gas. In the beginning i used to like times now but then its just gone down the drain, especially irritating is when they keep replaying 2 second clips with special effect noises like a bomb going off, or a missile falling. what nonsense.

  3. Karthik, there is nothing to report in rural areas when all the main events are concentrated in the metros. That’s why the analogy does not work.

  4. Well I get what you are saying, but I don’t think farmers committing suicide is any less trivial than Aishwariya getting married to Abhishek. It ws covered for one whole week damn it!! So why not go to rural areas instead and throw some light on what’s actually happening in remote areas of the country.

  5. I mean interesting things don’t consistently happen in rural areas. The people who watch the channels live in cities. Villagers can’t always afford TVs. So the audience is in the cities, so why show them village news?

  6. Thats your opinion. Interesting things do happen in the villages. Moreover it’s not about reporting just interesting things. Things that require our attention, like the villagers’ ignorance, lack of education also need to be reported. People are committing suicide in villages because the Government refuses to pay them more for their crops. Now if villagers were to turn Microsoft and demand money for their produce, with a buy it if you want attitude, then you and I cannot have food. Cannot afford food. Understanding of the rural mechanism and helping the people is of paramount importance and has a huge role in economy.

But even if you are right and only City news makes sense, all I am saying is TV people are not the ones who should have a say on doctors going to rural areas to serve there. You should have done medicine only to learn that its going to be 6 1/2 years instead of the already long 5 1/2 . I understand rural health care and stuff, but you can’t compel anyone, especially if you can’t pay them enough money.

  7. I wish you wouldn’t brush aside my points. TVs, money, resources, decision making, politicians, road accidents, crime… everything is concentrated in the cities. So the channels cover cities. Regardless of what is needed/necessary/Government’s duty that’s how it is.

Interesting things don’t consistently happen in village. Now don’t disagree with this. Everyone knows it’s true.

TV people are not asking doctors to work in rural areas! The government is trying to. The media is simply analysing the topic.

  8. The media is not simply analysing the topic. It’s trying to show the doctors in poor light. And agreeing with the government policy. Ok I cant generalise here. I am only against TIMES NOW and Arnab Goswami 🙂

Ok if you don’t like the analogy of villages, maybe we should send Arnab to J & K. It’s pretty event filled. I’m sure 5 years of reporting there won’t do him much harm. And if he dies, hey what could be better.

  9. KARTHIK,AT ONE CORNER U R SO CONCERNED ABOUT THE VILLAGERS N ON THE OTHER SIDE U DON’T WANT DOCTORS COMPULSORY RURAL SERVICE..
WHAT DO U WANT MEDIA TO BUZZ AROUND THE VILLAGERS OR SERIOUS WORK(COMPULSORY RURAL SERVICE)?WHAT MATTERS YOU THE HEALTH OF THE POOR OR THE PUBLICITY? I THINK U JUST WANT A REASON TO TARGET MR.GOSWAMI.

  10. @Nameera,

Can I request you to turn your Caps lock off the next time you type ? It is considered offensive to type in caps.

I want to know in which corner I was so concerned about villagers. (Luz Corner perhaps ?)

I do not want compulsory rural service for doctors on any side, not just the other side.

The suggestion that reporters will have to work in rural areas was absurd. Just as absurd as it is to compel doctors to serve in villages. (Especially when you do not pay them enough.) The example was just to demonstrate the absurdity of the idea and not a suggestion for compulsory rural reporting.

You are trying to compare health of rural people to publicity ? I wasn’t able to follow you there. If you were, then I don’t think I have anything to say about that.

As for me wanting reasons to target Mr.Goswami, he gives me plenty.

  11. REQUEST NOT ACCEPTED!!IT’S CONSIDERED OFFENSIVE TO WRITE IN CAPS WHO SAID YOU THAT??
DO YOU NO HOW LESS NUMBER OF DOCTORS WE HAVE IN VILLAGES?? I ASK YOU THE SAME QUESTION U HAVE ASKED TO MR.GOSWAMI—- HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO A VILLAGE?I HAVE N I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE SUFFERING JUST B’COZ THEY HAVE DOCTORS.DON’T YOU THINK THE NUMBER WILL INCREASE IF WE HAVE THE COMPULSORY RURAL SERVICE.WOMEN GIVE BIRTH IN FIELDS.. HAVE YOU SEEN THE MORTALITY RATE THEIR?ITS INCREASING DAY BY DAY.ILLITERATE PEOPLE UNAWARE OF THE FACTS OF DISEASES DIE EVERY DAY,THEY DON’T EVEN GET IT DETECTED AND DIE WITHOUT KNOWING THE FACT.Y??ONLY COZ THEY ARE NO PROPER FACILITIES,NO DOCTORS DEPLOYED IN THAT AREA…SUCH A SIMPLE REASON,IDIOTIC REASON YOU GIVE FOR THE END OF A LIFE OF AN INDIVIDUAL …………..I DON’T THINK YOU WANT THIS I DON’T THINK ANY BODY WANT THIS..THEY TAKE AN OATH TO SAVE LIVES SO WHY NOT IN THIS MANNER..A DOCTOR’S DUTY IS TO SAVE LIVES.IT DOSN’T MATTER WHERE HE DOES HIS JOB IN A BIG CLINIC OR IN RURAL AREAS.

  12. @Nameera,

I am oblivious to all the things you stated ofcourse. But then, villages could use computers too. They could use nice buildings, automobiles and good agriculture. What not ? So, how about we make rural service compulsory for all streams ? You could do a reporting stint yourself.

Doctors are not soldiers to be deployed to some place. For the amount of hard work they put in to their profession, they have a right to choose where they want to work.Just because of the Hypocrites’ oath, they can’t strike, they have to work for minimum wages and in villages too. How about you become a doctor if you are so concerned about rural health ?
